Teaching Writing in the Age of Stress and Trauma

Workshop Description:

In this session I will present and demonstrate key steps to incorporate in Writing Workshop that will both "tune" the workshop to better serve those who have experienced trauma and also clarify how those steps will improve learning and writing quality for all students. These steps or methods include:  Establishing a "Respect Agreement" with the student community, engaging students by including "choice," and teaching a "Response Protocol" for writing that both makes students safe and grows the quality of their work. The group members will get to experience these methods in the workshop during our session.

Target Group:

Teachers K-12, and school administrators
