Sharpening our Assignments with the Tramework for Success in Postsecondary Writing

Workshop Description:

​

Published by the three major national organizations that specialize in the teaching of writing, The Framework for Success in Post Secondary Writing is the culmination of decades of research in best practices and in what is most needed in college writing. This workshop will have participants review this seminal document and its precepts. Participants will work together in groups to help each other imagine ways to improve existing lessons and planned projects in light of Framework recommendations. The goal is that everyone leave inspired with ideas to improve upcoming class writing projects.

KRYSTIA NORA, PhD

 

One of the co-founders and former chairs of the English Education Collaborative, Krystia remains on its board of directors and regularly returns to California University of Pennsylvania from Wisconsin for this conference. Formerly a tenured member of the Cal U English department, she has a PhD in English Composition Studies and over 15 years of experience teaching writing to college students, not only helping develop better writers, but even having students publish their work at national, regional, and local venues. Certified as a teacher of both 7-12 English and K-12 vocal music, she is a National Writing Project writing fellow, and has been active with both the Western PA Writing Project and the Scholastic Art and Writing of Southwestern PA. She has published a writing textbook, along with several academic articles and book chapters. She regularly presents at College Composition and Communication and the National Council of Teachers of English  conferences on topics pertaining to the teaching of writing, research writing, technology and literacy, and qualitative research.
